There is a lot happening at Universal Orlando this August, including one update I am personally very happy about.
Fast & Furious – Supercharged officially had its final day of operation on August 16, and all I can say is…thank God! In my opinion, it was easily the worst ride at Universal Orlando. I know every attraction has its fans, but this is one closure I will not be mourning. Hopefully, whatever eventually replaces it will make much better use of that space. Meanwhile, construction on the new Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift coaster at Universal Studios Florida is moving quickly. The track is officially complete, and some of the construction walls around the attraction are beginning to come down, giving guests a better look at the massive new coaster. Hollywood Drift is expected to open in 2027, and with 360-degree rotating ride vehicles and a 170-foot vertical spike, this finally looks like the exciting Fast & Furious attraction Orlando deserves.
Universal also held its annual Passholder Nights on August 15 and 16. Unfortunately, I could not attend this year, but everything I saw and heard made it look like a blast. The after-hours event included select attractions, special entertainment, character meet-and-greets and exclusive Passholder items.
They also released a new UOAP Coca-Cola Freestyle souvenir cup that glows in the dark, which was honestly one of the coolest Passholder items I saw from the weekend.
I will eventually make it to a Passholder Night! The timing is always a little strange for me because it falls right when summer is winding down and Halloween Horror Nights preparations are taking over the park. Hopefully, one year the dates will finally work in my favor.
Speaking of Halloween Horror Nights, preparations for HHN 35 are officially underway throughout Universal Studios Florida. If you have read my previous post about HHN, you already know this is probably my least favorite time of year at Universal—an opinion that is definitely unpopular among Universal fans.
I understand why people love it, but I personally miss being able to enjoy Universal Studios without construction walls, scare-zone props and the constant reminder that spooky season is coming. I am much more of a Mardi Gras girl.
One small date correction: Halloween Horror Nights 35 officially begins on August 28 and runs on select nights through November 1. Universal Orlando HHN
Between saying goodbye to Fast & Furious – Supercharged, celebrating Passholders and preparing for HHN 35, August is shaping up to be a month of major changes at Universal Orlando. I may not be excited for everything that is coming, but I am definitely excited to see what Universal has planned for the newly available Fast & Furious space.
