If the rumors about changes coming to The Lost Continent at Universal Islands of Adventure are true, then one potential loss honestly hurts more than anything else: Mythos.
Hands down, Mythos is one of my FAVORITE restaurants across all of the Universal parks, including Universal CityWalk Orlando. And if you know me, you know I don’t throw that title around lightly.
There’s just something about walking into that cave-inspired restaurant in the middle of a chaotic park day that immediately slows everything down. The atmosphere is unmatched, the food is consistently good, and somehow it still feels underrated outside of hardcore Universal fans.

And honestly? One of the most underrated parts of Mythos is how COLD it is inside.
If you’re a Florida theme park person, you already know exactly what I mean. During the spring and especially the summer, there comes a point in the day where you NEED an air conditioning reset. Mythos is one of those rare places where you walk in sweaty, overstimulated, and slightly regretting your life choices… and within five minutes you feel human again.
The cool cave atmosphere, dim lighting, and strong AC make it the PERFECT midday break from the Orlando heat. It’s one of the few sit-down restaurants in the parks where you genuinely want to stay awhile and relax before heading back out into the chaos.
My go-to order every single time?
The Greek salad with grilled chicken.

I know that sounds ridiculously simple considering the menu, but hear me out. On a hot Florida park day, this meal is PERFECT. It’s light, refreshing, filling without making you feel miserable afterward, and honestly one of the healthier options you’ll find inside a theme park.
And yes… more you eat, the feta you get.
That salad alone is enough to keep me coming back.
But the REAL stars of the table are the appetizers.
Every time we go with a group, there are two mandatory orders:
- Spanakopita Dip
- Hummus Platter with grilled pita
The Spanakopita Dip is unreal. The toasted pita they serve with it will genuinely make you question everything because why is pita bread THIS good? It somehow manages to be crispy, warm, buttery, and addictive all at the same time.

Then there’s the hummus platter. I’m normally not a huge lamb person, but somehow the lamb in this dish just works. It adds protein, flavor, and makes the whole appetizer feel a little more substantial without being heavy.

Honestly, Mythos has mastered the “park day meal.”
You leave full and satisfied, but not in that “I need to sit down for three hours” kind of way. It’s the perfect balance where you can finish lunch, cool off, recharge in the AC, and still head straight to Jurassic World VelociCoaster afterward without regretting your life choices.
And that’s why the rumors surrounding Mythos potentially closing hit so hard.
I understand that The Lost Continent may eventually be redeveloped. Universal has clearly been evolving that area for years. But Mythos? That feels different.

This isn’t some forgotten park restaurant people randomly stumble into once every five years. This place is a fan favorite. You literally need reservations weeks in advance sometimes just to get a table.
Not to mention the awards and recognition Mythos has received over the years. It’s consistently ranked as one of the best theme park restaurants anywhere.
So while nothing has been officially confirmed regarding Mythos closing, the rumors alone are enough to make longtime Universal fans nervous.
Hopefully Universal realizes what they have with this restaurant and finds a way to preserve it, even if the surrounding land changes.
But just in case…
If you’ve never eaten at Mythos before, let this be your sign to finally book the reservation.
Because if Universal actually closes this restaurant, it may go down as one of the biggest dining mistakes they’ve ever made.
