Welcome to Beyond The Rides

Hi there, I’m Geena, a proud Universal Orlando Annual Passholder, writer, and all-around theme park enthusiast. After countless park days, butterbeers, and conversations with fellow passholders, I decided it was time to create a space that celebrates the Universal experience that goes beyond the rides.

I first came to Universal Orlando in 2000, and I instantly fell in love with the park. Even as a child, there was something about the atmosphere, the energy, the characters, the music, that felt electric. Over the past 25 years, I’ve returned time and time again, watching Universal evolve, expand, and somehow become even more magical with every visit. From the early days of Islands of Adventure to the Wizarding World, Volcano Bay, and now the excitement surrounding Epic Universe, it’s been amazing to see the park grow and transform while still holding onto that same spark that first drew me in.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the adrenaline of VelociCoaster and the nostalgia of E.T. just as much as anyone. But what’s always stood out to me are the little things that most people miss: the hidden stories in the queue lines, the smell of fresh popcorn drifting through CityWalk, the free merch at the UOAP Lounge, or the unexpected calm of watching the lagoon lights dance at night.

This blog is my way of capturing those moments. It’s for the passholders, travelers, and dreamers who love Universal not just for its rides, but for its energy, the feeling that you’re part of something bigger than yourself, even if it’s just for a day.
